Alaska Trip 2005 - jfriend
Kevin, putting booties on one of the sled dogs. To protect their feet from the sharp ice crystals, the dogs all wear protective booties in the winter. These booties get replaced at each major rest stop during the race. With 16 dogs and 4 legs per dog, a racer has to get really good at replacing these quickly because the time spent doing this comes right out of the available sleep time for the musher.
