Alaska Trip 2005 - jfriend
On the flight back from McKinley to Achorage, we got many views of the extensive system of rivers and lakes. The countryside is literally covered with lakes. Apparently, this is all because of the glacial history where ancient glaciers scoured tens of thousands of holes in the landscape, each of which is a lake today. This is, apparently, the same history as Minnesota (land of 10,000 lakes), but Alaska has zillions more lakes than Minnesota.
