Half Dome and both Nevada and Vernal Falls from Washburn Point
That's where we're headed the next day
Our route up to Half Dome went to the right of these two waterfalls, then back up that valley, then over to the far side of half dome (as seen from this pic).
Yep, that's where we're going
On a short hike to Sentinel Dome (up near Glacier Point) overlooking Yosemite Valley
From the top of Sentinel Dome
Just to the left of the pine tree in the foreground is Upper Yosemite Falls. There is no water in it (the first time I've seen it that way) because of the dry winter.
Tunnel view with El Capitan on the left, Half Dome in the distance and Bridal Veil Falls on the right
Even Bridal Veil Falls has barely a trickle of water. Half Dome in the distance.
Late evening light on Half Dome
As the sun comes up, our first break on the hike at the top of Nevada Falls.
As we approach the sub-dome, our first closeup look at the side of Half Dome that we're going up
Starting up the sub-dome. Very steep and almost as dangerous as the cables
Going up the sub-dome
Catching her breath going up the sub-dome
Much of the trail on the sub-dome is large granite steps. There are many places that a misstep could be fatal
Going up the sub-dome and the only time I was actually ahead of the teenagers
Our first good look at the cables
Studying and contemplating the cables from the top of the sub-dome
Ready to go up the cables. We have our climbing harnesses on with double carabeners on so we will always be hooked on
